About Balanced Life & Intimacy Therapy

danielle-petronelli-therapist

Hi, I’m Danielle Petronelli, CST, IMFT

I am married to my husband, Sam, and live with our two dogs, Bentley and Coop. I grew up in the Cincinnati area and enjoy exploring the city, as well as trying as many new restaurants as possible. As a former collegiate athlete, I enjoy being active and participating in recreational sports with my husband and friends. Sports are a huge part of my life, especially the Cincinnati Bengals, FC Cincinnati, and the LA Lakers. If I’m not out exploring a new restaurant, playing sports, or cuddling with my pups, you can find me creating recipes and providing food and entertainment to my friends and family. My favorite day of the week is Sunday in the fall, when football is on TV, I have a good book to read, and I can relax for most of the day before playing sand volleyball with my husband. The beach is my favorite place, and I look forward to vacations with friends and family to enjoy the sunshine and relaxation.

I chose to become a therapist because offering support and guidance has always come naturally to me. Throughout my life, friends and family have often turned to me for advice, encouragement, or simply a compassionate ear. I take great pride in being a supportive and empathetic presence in others' lives, and I’m passionate about creating a safe and welcoming space where people feel heard and valued.

Sex therapy was also a natural calling for me, as I grew up in a sex-positive household where conversations about sexual health were open, comfortable, and judgment-free. Because of this, topics surrounding sexuality have always felt easy and natural to discuss. My hope is to extend that same sense of comfort and openness to the individuals and couples I work with, helping them navigate their experiences with confidence and compassion.

Coming from a sex-positive background, I deeply value the importance of open, non-judgmental conversations around intimacy and connection. My goal is to help you understand that your experience is valid, reduce feelings of shame, and empower you to build a stronger relationship with yourself and others. I am here to help you develop healthier connections, foster intimacy, and embrace the journey towards a fulfilling and confident sexual life.

FAQs

Do you accept insurance?

No, all payments are out-of-pocket. I will provide a superbill at the client's request. Superbills are used to help with reimbursement for out-of-network expenses.

Do you offer a discounted rate?

Yes, at the client's request, and after further discussion, a discounted rate can be offered. Contact me with questions.

What can I expect in our sessions together?

Therapy is different for everyone. You can expect a safe, comfortable, non-judgmental space to address and discuss any concerns, thoughts, or feelings you may have. I approach every client with respect, openness, and a commitment to understanding your unique needs. Through psychoeducation, shared knowledge, and a warm, supportive environment, I help guide clients towards greater self-awareness and fulfillment.

Therapy looks different for every couple. This is your opportunity to grow as a person and a couple. Don’t be afraid to ask for what you need from your therapist or identify what you believe might be helpful to explore during sessions. Visit the "Get Started" page for your next steps.

Cancellation Policy?

Yes, a 24-hour cancellation policy is in place. If the session is cancelled within the 24-hour window, the full session fee will be charged. Further explanation is provided in the cancellation policy form.

Will I be in therapy forever?

Not unless you want to. I am a solution-focused brief therapist. I aim to help clients address any immediate major concerns or stressors, strengthen their toolbox, and then encourage them to continue growing outside of the therapy room.

What is Sex Therapy?

Sex therapy is a specialized area of psychotherapy that focuses on addressing the emotional, psychological, and relational aspects of sexual well-being. A sex therapist is a trained professional with the credentials and education to offer this specialized support. Sex therapy can address a wide range of topics, such as concerns about sexual desire, intimacy, sexual orientation and identity, sexual preferences, challenges related to erectile dysfunction or vaginal pain, infidelity, or past trauma. It can also be a space to explore and understand experiences that haven't been discussed before. Visit the Sex Therapy page for more information on areas of focus and what to expect.
